Roy K. Imhoff DVM
Roy K. Imhoff, DVM September 10, 1932 - April 4, 2021 Roy's journey began in Stowe, Ohio where he realized by 12 years old that he wanted to be a veterinarian. After finishing veterinary school at Ohio State University in 1959, he landed his first job at Animal Medical Center in Manhattan. Later he and his wife Jackie built the Nutley Animal Hospital and ran the practice for over 30 years. Roy was deeply involved in the Nutley community, acting in the Nutley Little Theater, and serving as president of the Nutley Rotary Club. He was also an avid tennis player and a long-standing member of the Nutley Tennis Club. Roy's passions included world travel, sketching, painting, and gardening. He often painted his favorite destinations, Martha's Vineyard, and the island of St. John. His drawings have been published in the Vineyard Gazette, The New Yorker and Gourmet magazine. A resident of Nutley, NJ for 58 years, he moved to Cedar Crest in Pompton Plains in 2017 where he met his companion Ann Whitestone. Roy was predeceased by his wife Jackie of 59 years and his son Jeff. He leaves behind a daughter, Julie Viola and son-in-law Jim Viola of Foster City, CA, a grandson, Thomas Viola of Las Vegas, NV and a granddaughter, Caroline Viola of Mountain View, CA. A Memorial Service will be held in July. Announcement of day and time will follow.
