In memory of
Louise Marie (Lou) Bryant-Barnes
Louise (Lou) Marie Bryant-Barnes Louise (Lou) Marie Bryant-Barnes was born Saturday, September 11th, 1948 to Louis I. Bryant and Modestine Dunlap-Bryant in Somerville, New Jersey. Louise was an amazing woman, caring mother, wife, sister, grandmother, and friend. She passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, March 14th, 2021. Growing up, she was active in sports, dancing, exercising, listening to music, running track races in the Bridgewater school system and Hobbstown park! In her quiet time, she loved reading a good love story or mystery book. Her caring ability and love for her parents, allowed her to become their caregiver. She loved weddings and cried at each one. Her laughter was contagious when telling a story or when she heard a joke. After many years of chasing her dreams, she married the love of her life, William H. Barnes at First Baptist Church of Somerville. They were married 11 years until his transition in February, 2020. Together, Louise and William would often travel to the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, St. Thomas, cruise many islands, and travel south to visit family and friends. Or Louise would take a ride with her sister-in-law Tillie to Sands. When she craved warmer weather, she would visit her siblings Trish and Charles in California. Louise loved spending time in the kitchen, making delicious meals for her family and friends, and during the summer months, you could often find her cooking barbeque for her annual cookout, which will be sorely missed. Louise enjoyed spending time with her only daughter, Tina, her son-in-law, Monroe and her granddaughter, Faith whom she was very proud of. She attended every volleyball game from New Jersey to Texas to Minnesota and would talk fondly about her trip to Paris with Tina and Faith. She was employed as a supervisor at Olivetti/Royal for 35 years, received many awards and certifications in business and customer relations and then worked at Viking Office Supply and UNZ&Co as a manager where she retired. Louise was a charter member of Keturah chapter 63 order of the eastern star chartered in the city of Somerville, New Jersey Oziel Grand ChaPrince hall affiliation for the jurisdiction of New Jersey. Louise served dutifully as worthy matron (the highest office of a subordinate chapter) 1997-1998. She served in various positions throughout the last 25 years. One highlight being Ms. Oziel, where she traveled not only the state of New Jersey but many states. Louise also co-founded a group called Queen to Queen along with Patty, Joanie, Rainy, Lisa, and Arnetha organized, sponsored, fun packed, bon appetit, gift giving parties. Louise loved her nieces and nephews and they adored her. Each one was very special to her and each niece fought over which one was her favorite!! She often invited them over for dinner. She was predeceased in death by her husband William H. Barnes; her father, Louis I. Bryant, her mother, Modestine Dunlap-Bryant, and two brothers, Robert L. Bryant, Sr. and Wade Bryant. Louise left behind one daughter, Tina Adams (Monroe); one granddaughter, Faith Adams; one sister, Latricia Bryant of Altadena, California; one brother, Charles Bryant (Lynnelle) of Altadena, California. Along with three sister-laws, (Tillie, Ian and Kathy) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We would be remiss, if we didn't mention her favorite cousins, Debra Belvin, Patricia Milligan and childhood friends, Rev. Helen Williams and Cindy Newsome. Louise will be dearly missed by all who knew her, she would want everyone to know that she was baptized in 1996 and served faithfully as an usher at Hope Church and she was prepared to meet her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. Louise fought a good fight and ran a good race. Well Done Louise!! Viewing will take place Saturday, March 20, 2021, 10:00am to 11:00am at First Baptist Church, 132 West High Street, Somerville, NJ 08876 Followed by service at 11:00am. Arrangements entrusted to Buckland Funeral Home, Somerville, NJ.
