Sally Mae Brockington-Harvin
Brockington Harvin, Sally Mae Mother Sally Mae Brockington-Harvin was born on June 10, 1943, in Kingstree, South Carolina to the parents of Daniel Eli Brockington and Oree Gamble Brockington Kendricks. She transitioned this life on February 15, 2021, in Yale-New Haven Hospital. Sally attended Sumter Public Schools and in 1965, she relocated to New Haven, CT. She was married to the late Lee Moses Harvin, Jr. and out of this union 4 children were born: Daniel, Jacqueline, Steven and Stephanie. She was employed by the State of Connecticut Department of Social Services and retired in July 2007 after 22 years and 10 months of service. Sally was a very faithful member of Pitts Chapel U.F.W.B. Church for over 55 years. While a member, she was the past President of the Senior Usher Board, past Vice President of Choir No. #1, Supervisor of the Nursing Unit, Mother Board, past member of Pitts Chapel Original Young Adult Choir, Gospelites and Mass Choir. She was on the State Ushers Unit and served as the President of the CT United Ushers Association, 1st Vice President of New Haven Ushers Unit and 2nd Vice President of the State Ushers Association. She was also the Grand Matron for the Masonic Order State of Connecticut and Worthy Matron of the Queen Esther Chapter No. 5. Sally leaves to mourn her children. 2 sons, Daniel Williams and Elder Steven Harvin both of New Haven, CT and 1 daughter, Stephanie Harvin of West Haven, CT. 13 Grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, 2 brothers and a host of family and friends. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Lee Moses Harvin Jr., mother and stepfather Oree Gamble (James) Kendricks, daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline Harvin (Jimmie Lee) Brown. A wake will be held Fri. Feb. 26, 2021, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at McClam Funeral Home Chapel, 95 Dixwell Ave., New Haven, CT 06511. A celebration of life will be held Sat. Feb. 27, 2021, at 9 a.m. at Trinity Temple Church, 285 Dixwell Ave., New Haven, CT 06511. Calling hours 8 a.m. until time of service. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
