Smith, AndréLamont AndréLamont Ulysses Smith, 56, of Chesapeake, VA, passed away on February 13, 2021 at Chesapeake Regional Hospital in Chesapeake, Virginia. He was born in New Haven, CT, on December 5, 1964 where he remained for most of his life before moving to Virginia in 2020. A son of the late, Robert L. and Eunice P. Smith. He is survived by his wife, Sharise B. Smith, and daughter, Krystal Baines. He was the youngest of eleven siblings; five brothers, Robert Jr. (Deborah), Emanuel (Melanie), of Mechanicsville, MD, Kenneth of Hampton, VA, Ward of Chesapeake, VA, Norman (Sharon). Five sisters, Cynthia Moody (Donnie), of Suffolk, VA, Lavinia Smith, Dearvon Peoples (Donnell) of Norfolk, VA, Holanda Harding, (Otis) of Suffolk, VA, and Pamela Padua. He was predeceased by two nephews and his grandparents. André was educated in the New Haven public school system and a graduate of James Hillhouse High School. He was a lifelong member of the United House of Prayer for all People where he became a minister many years ago. Growing up in the church, he loved blowing the trombone in their music ministry. Born with health challenges, his parents were told he would not live past ten years old, however, God blessed him and allowed him to live for forty-six more years past that. He also did everything the doctors told him he wouldn't be able to do. André loved to laugh and enjoyed making family and friends laugh. He was considered one of the comedians in the family. We were all so blessed to have him as our brother. Blessed by his love, presence, and comedic nature. He will be dearly missed by us all, and sorely missed by his many, many nieces and nephews that he spent much time with and who loved him so much. Services entrusted to McClam Funeral Home, 95 Dixwell Ave., New Haven, CT 06511. Viewing Feb. 25, 2021, from 10-11 a.m. Graveside burial immediately following in Evergreen Cemetery.
