Age 78, of St. Paul Passed away peacefully on 12/16/2020 following a brief illness. Michael was the eldest of three sons of Anna and Michael (Sr.) Hushcha. He entered the world September 22, 1942 during his parents' emigration from their war-ravaged homeland of Ukraine en route to Villach, Austria, where they lived until coming to New York City in 1949, subsequently to Minnesota. Michael graduated from Humboldt High School in 1960 and attended University of Minnesota, Mankato before enlisting in the US Army, serving in Vietnam 1964-1966. Talented as a sharp-shooter and skilled technician in military equipment management and planning, he regularly volunteered for high-risk missions, ultimately receiving the US Army's Meritorious Service Award. Following the war, Michael moved to Seattle where he graduated from Seattle Central College 1974 going on to earn certification in computer programming at Control Data Institute. He moved to NYC where he continued his computer science career working with clientele throughout the US, Latin America and Japan. Michael ultimately returned to St. Paul to be closer to his family and worked in transportation industry until retiring in 2012. Preceded in death by parents Anna and Michael Sr., Michael is survived by brothers Leon Hushcha (Sally Wheaton Hushcha) of Mpls. and Tony Hushcha of St. Paul. The family wishes to thank Jill of HealthEast Hospice during in-home hospice care, and the compassionate, dedicated staff of Our Lady of Peace Hospice. Service and interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, January 13th at 11:00, Section 5.
