Thomas C. Smith, Jr. Millsboro - Thomas C. Smith, Jr., age 96, of Millsboro, DE formerly of Claymont, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at his home. He was born in Chester, PA on July 28, 1924 son of the late Thomas C. Smith, Sr. and the late Reba (Sweeney) Smith. Tom proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII, receiving two Bronze Stars at the Battle of the Bulge. Tom was a sports enthusiast and was devoted to his community serving in a variety of capacities. He enjoyed watching and playing baseball, softball and golfing. Tom also enjoyed living at the coast and was a member of American Legion Post #28 in Millsboro, DE. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Smith n 1989 and a son, Thomas C. Smith, III. He is survived by his life-partner of 30 years, Violet Harkins and two sons, Kenneth Smith and Gary Smith. Services and burial are private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Tom's memory to VITAS Hospice, 30265 Commerce Drive, Suite 202, Millsboro, DE 19966.
