Graveside services for Charles Edward Hill, 90, of Tyler will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 2:30 at New York Cemetery with Glen Pierce officiating.  Burial will follow under the direction of Jackson’s Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home.  Charles passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Hospice of East Texas.  Charles was born February 5, 1930 to the late Frank M. and Corene Fennell Hill and was raised in Souls Chapel, TX.  After graduating from Harmony High School, Charles joined the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1953.  Charles moved to Tyler after leaving the Air Force. He married Ruth “Dell” Monk on September 16, 1961. Charles was an avid gardener and loved growing things.  He was a skilled carpenter and helped many friends and family members with their building projects and home additions.  Charles was employed by and retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Company in Tyler.    Charles was a faithful member of Pollard United Methodist Church and loved to attend church until he could no longer go due to declining health.  Charles was a quite man with a gentle humble spirit and a servant’s heart.  Charles always met you with a smile and he was willing to help anyone. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; brother, Max Hill; sisters, Frances Hymer, Edna Ruth Gipson, Lanelle Henke and Evelyn Detwiler.  Charles is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.  Family will receive friends before the service from 2:00 to 2:30.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church or charity of your choice.
