Maureen Matteo
Maureen A. Matteo February 8, 1958 - June 25, 2020   Maureen passed away unexpectedly on June 25, 2020 at the young age of 62.  She was the caring daughter of Howard Dean and Rosalie Garczynski, loving mother of Danielle, Nicole, Nicholas, Monique and Maureen and the proudest grandmother/great-grandmother of Nicky, Mikey, Alexis(Joseph Wood), Astasia, Alyssa, Adrianna, Joseph and Paisley. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.    Maureen was born and raised in South Philly, and spent the remainder of her life in Northeast Philadelphia. The relationships and bonds she formed with her lifelong neighbors, friends and her “adopted” children meant the world to her. She was a fan of Elvis, Charmed the series, Dirty Dancing and any type of true crime show that would come across her tv. Maureen loved spending time with her grandchildren. They truly were the light of her life. Their adventures ranged from Uno card games, trips to Dunkin Donuts (which she loved), taking them to eat and just reminiscing on her younger years with them.   Since Maureen’s passing, many have written about how special she was and how fortunate they were to have known her.  They reminisce about her smile, warmth, and sassy attitude that would light up a room. Most of all, they recall the sheer pleasure of her company, her loving nature and how much they will miss her. She had an incredible sense of humor and her snarky remarks are something that will truly be missed. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Gathering Friday July 10, 2020, 10:00am to 11:30am at the EDWARD J. PETNER FUNERAL HOME (family owned and operated). Memorial Service begins at 11:30am
