Dorothy J. Huffman
Dorothy Joyce Cousins Huffman passed away peacefully from natural causes at 10:30 p.m., on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at the age of 94. A native New Olreanian, Mrs. Huffman was born on October 20, 1925, the daughter of Lillian Walcott and Richard Roger “Oscar” Cousins. Mrs. Huffman grew up in Gentilly where she attended Catholic School and lived in New Orleans for the majority of her life.  Later, she located to Slidell where she has resided over the past thirty years. In 1942, she met and married Albert M. Huffman of Ohio, with whom she was fortunate to be married to for sixty-two years.  He preceded her in death in November of 2004. A lifelong homemaker, she looked after her family and volunteered at St. Mary the Angel Elementary School where her daughter attended,  She was always involved in donating her time and energy to parent organizations. Mrs. Huffman was a great lover of adventure and travel and enjoyed the many bowling leagues she was associated with over the years.  Along side her beloved “Al”, they were both avid sports fans, especially keen on baseball and football.  As original Saints season ticketholders, they attended every home game together. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Huffman Audibert and son-in-law, Gill J. Audibert.  She is also survived by her two grandsons on whom she doted; Brett J. Audibert (Allison) and Gill Ryan Audibert (Shelley) and three great granddaughters whom she adored; Rachel Audibert, Rebecca Audibert and Ryley Audibert. Mrs. Huffman is also remembered fondly by her extended family of nieces and nephews, her Audibert family and the families of the many friends she had over her long life to whom she was affectionately known as “Aunt Dot” and “Maw-Maw Dot” to all. The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Anderson Memory Care in Slidell for their care and support throughout her last years. A funeral service will not be held. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate masses in her name or that contributions be made to; Heritage Hospice, 1402 South Magnolia Street, Suite K, Hammond, La. 70403. A private burial will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell, where she will be laid to rest alongside her devoted husband.
