Byron Lee Burkhammer, 54 of Tyler, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 13, 2020 at 12:10 AM.  Byron was born in Austin, Texas on February 27, 1966.  Five days later, he became the son of Billy L. and JoAnne Hodnett Burkhammer of Tyler. Byron was an exceptional child, testing in the 98 percentile in reading and reading comprehension in the U. S.  He spent his younger years in Temple and Warren before moving to Tyler.  He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1984.  He was a people's person and as such, had many friends, never forgetting a name.  He was a member of the debate team and drama club.  Byron attended Tyler Junior College graduating with a degree in Respiratory Therapy.  Over the course of his career as an R. T. he was employed by Children's Hospital of Dallas, Memorial Hospital of Arlington and Health South of Tyler.  Byron accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age of six.  He and his parents are members of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler.  Byron is survived by his parents; sister, Karyn and her husband Richard of Arlington and five uncles and their families.  Byron was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hoyce and Verta B. Hodnett of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Lee and Nettie Burkhammer of Paragould, Arkansas.  Due to the Corona virus epidemic, no public services will be scheduled. A Celebration of Life will always be ongoing.  Byron was a special blessing from God.  His parents wish to thank all who attempted to save his life.  A special thanks to The Hospice of East Texas for the devoted effort to make Byron's end days as comfortable as possible.
