Born Oct. 15, 1936 in Kilgore, TX to Mary Sue Williams, Joni leaves behind her two sisters Helen Kay Wallace, Sandy Mathisen, husband Donnie and Nora Bragg, loving children and their spouses, Vonna and Neil Rudine, Debbie and Ron Hamm, Robert and Nelly Maxvill, Tom and Kandi Maxvill and Andy Maxvill. Affectionally known as "Meemaw" to all, including her grandchildren Anthony Rudine and wife Jenn, Tiffany Pettijohn and husband Robert, Cullen Rudine and wife Caitlin, Andrea McBroom and husband Nick, Leslie Patterson and husband Jared, Katy Crawford and husband Shafen, Robby Maxvill , Katrina Cruz and husband Lorenzo, Kimberly Gannaway and husband Jason, Chris Maxvill, Bailey Maxvill, Brandon Grant, Cassy Maxvill, Thomas Maxvill, Taylor Davis and husband Tyler, Charlie Maxvill, and Aiden Maxvill and numerous great grand-children. Preceded in death by husband Robert Maxvill, parents Mary and Horace Williams, daughters Jenny Smedley, Cindy Schell, Jody Schell, granddaughter Christina Rudine, brother Jeff Williams and sister Margie Crauthers. Joni's passion in life was to care for others in need and those she felt were less fortunate. She organized and fed countless of the Dallas homeless; took God's word to those who were unable to otherwise receive the Word. This ministry grew to include the creation of a home bible study that allowed many participants to hear God's word and, in many cases, to be saved. She became the primary care giver for her sister, Margie, after an accident that left her in an unresponsive state for many years. Subsequently, after a tragic accident involving her beloved daughter, Jenny, she became a primary care giver as Jenny remained comatose for 12 years. In her later life, her passion became care giving and companionship to residents of nursing homes and memory care facilities. This care giving continued her entire life as she cared for and provided companionship to a 102-year-old family friend, Ruth Sherman, until Joni was diagnosed with cancer which led to her death just a few months later. Ruth was laid to rest just one day preceding Joni's death. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home at 3701 Rowlett Rd., Rowlett, TX on Wednesday, Sept. 11 from 6:00 8:00 PM.
