Vernon was born on September 12, 1942 and passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019. Vernon was a resident of Florida at the time of passing. Vernon graduated from St. Augustine High School in 1960, where he was the starting quarterback in the first football game played on the school's current field. Visitation and prayer service will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, July 22, at Craig Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to St. Augustine Little League, St. Joseph Academy, St. Augustine High School Alumni Association or Community Hospice.
