William Steven Lowrance
Mr. William Steven Lowrance, 87, of Greensboro, passed away on May 21st, 2019 at Beacon Place. Funeral services will be held at eleven o'clock on Friday, May 24th, 2019 in the sanctuary of College Park Baptist Church, 1601 Walker Avenue, Greensboro, North Carolina 27403. Rev. Michael Usey will officiate. Interment will follow in Westminster Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church parlor. Steve was born on February 25th, 1932 in Rutherford County, North Carolina to the late Colin C. and Ada Hill Lowrance. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. After the war, he received a football scholarship and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Wofford College. He retired after thirty-five years from Burlington Industries. Steve was a long time member of College Park Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and church treasurer. He enjoyed golf, softball and attending every event his grandchildren were involved in. He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Betty Johnson Lowrance; children, Steve Lowrance, Jr. and wife, Debra; Les Lowrance; Tim Lowrance and wife, Amy; Angela Williams and husband, Robbie. He is also survived by his grandchildren, who affectionately refer to him as G-Daddy, Ashley, Chase, Chad, Kevin, Leslie, Caroline and Brant; two great-grandchildren, Aimery and Amon. He has two sisters, Treva Greene and Sara Bailey. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to College Park Baptist Church, 1601 Walker Avenue, Greensboro, North Carolina 27403.
