In memory of
Dorothy V. Connor
Dorothy Vernon Wilson Hochmuth Connor entered this world on September 13, 1914, in Des Moines, Iowa and promoted to Glory on February 5, 2019, at the age of 104. She was the daughter of the late Hilda and Lester Mt. Olive Wilson. She lived and was educated in Des Moines where she met and later married her high school sweetheart, Orville Hochmuth, on March 3, 1934. Her first home as a newlywed was in Omaha, Nebraska where her first two children, Joan and James, were born. In 1943 the family moved to Berwyn, Illinois, and Dorothy's second son, John was born a year later. In 1972 Dorothy and Orville retired to Clearwater, Florida. The following year, she was widowed but chose to remain in Clearwater rather than to return to Illinois. She met and married Charles Connor in 1975 and together they eventually moved to Regency Oaks where Dorothy found herself widowed again in 1996. Dorothy was a very intelligent, kind and generous lady who was everyone's friend. She enjoyed sewing lap robes, crocheting booties, and making beaded creations. Dorothy was delighted to give them away for others to enjoy. She had a keen mind and worked the daily newspaper crossword puzzles as well as other puzzles offered by the newspaper. In her younger years Dorothy was an avid bowler and later became an active volunteer in the Regency Oak's community. She leaves behind the family she dearly loved: daughter, Joan and son-in-law, Neal Sorensen; son, James and daughter-in-law, Joyce Hochmuth; and son, John and daughter-in-law, Pam Hochmuth; seven grandchildren (Neal Sorensen, Jr; John Hochmuth; Mark Sorensen; Julie Hochmuth Boruff; Jessica Hochmuth Detwiler; David Hochmuth; Ashley Hochmuth Bellamy); 16 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
