Bette J. Murdock
Bette Jean (Adams) Murdock of Brewster passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Bette was born in Dighton, MA to Russell E. and Lillian (Bleazard) Adams. She graduated from Dighton High School and became a hairdresser. On June 22, 1957, she married her beloved David S. Murdock of Quincy, MA. They moved to Pittsburgh, PA and then a year later they moved to Cape Cod. Bette later attended Cape Cod Community College where she earned a teachers aide certificate. Bette was a devoted homemaker and had many interests. An avid fan of NASCAR, her favorite driver was #17, Matt Kenseth. She had a love of reading and always had a book close by. Her other interests included genealogy, arts & crafts, particularly knitting and cross stitch, making beautiful items that she generously gave away. She has a quick wit and enjoy ed jokes. A poet, she had many pieces of poetry published. Always enjoying a challenge, she did daily crossword puzzles and loved to do jigsaw puzzles. She survived breast cancer, and was a long time member of the Brewster Baptist Church. A devoted Mother of three and a grandmother of 5, she is survived by her daughter: Barbara (Manuel) DeSousa of Cape Coral, FL, their children Paul DeSousa, Natalie (Ryan) Worthington, Caitlin DeSousa and Callie DeSousa; her daughter, Linda Murdock of Brewster; and her son Scott Murdock of Dennis, MA, and his daughter Ava Murdock. She is also survived by her brother William (Jean) Adams of Hanson, MA. She was the loving aunt to her two nieces: Susan (Paul) Mercurio and Janet (David) Moreland. She had many friends and neighbors that were very special to her. A graveside service for Bette will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. at the Lower Road Cemetery also known as Brewster Cemetery, Lower Road, Brewster, MA. A reception will follow at the Brewster Baptist Church on Rte. 6-A, Brewster, MA. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brewster Rescue Squad, 1657 Main Street, Brewster, MA 0263.
