David Nelson Potter, July 11, 1950 to March 9, 2018. David N. Potter, 67, died peacefully in his sleep March 9, 2018, after a difficult battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Springfield, David was a lifelong resident and a 1968 graduate of Classical High School. He owned David Potter's Dance Studio, located in Springfield and Enfield, and dedicated his life to teaching tap, jazz, ballet, and other types of dance to both children and adults for more than 50 years. David was predeceased by his parents, Robert W. Potter Sr. and Mary L. (Tilli) Potter; and a brother, Robert W. Potter Jr. He leaves a sister and brother-in-law, Marianne and John Depalma of Estero, Florida; a niece, Mary (Potter) O'Neill and her husband, Brian Paul; and a nephew, Christopher Potter and his wife, Meaghan. A funeral home service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 16, in the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, with burial in St. Michael's Cemetery, 1601 State St., Springfield, to follow. Calling hours will take place 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 15, in the funeral home.
