Jeffrey Thomas
THOMAS, Jeffrey Jeffrey Pence Thomas, 76, a Plano resident of 34 years, passed away on February, from IPF, a lung disease. Jeff was born on September 20, 1941, in Orange, New Jersey, to Walker and Virginia Thomas. He lived in many places growing up, including New Jersey, upstate New York and Kansas. He graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, Kansas in 1959. Jeff enlisted in the USMC in 1963, serving in the Reserves until 1969. Jeff graduated from SMU in 1966, and then went to work for Sears as a management trainee in Kansas City. He was transferred to Dallas in 1971, where he helped pioneer their information technology systems. The remainder of his career was in IT for various companies, including American Airlines, Sabre and EDS. He retired in 2010. His lifelong passion was tennis and cherished the many friendships he made in the Dallas tennis community. Besides tennis, he was an avid reader and also enjoyed working in the yard. Jeff is survived by Lane Thomas, his wife of 43 years, daughter Allison Thomas of Austin, son Brian Thomas (Liz Goulding) of Dallas, sister Debbie McCalmon (Frank) of Leawood, KS and two nephews. He will have a Memorial Service at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 10AM to 12PM. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
