Paul Joseph Sachwitz
Paul Joseph Sachwitz Ahwatukee - Paul Joseph Sachwitz, age 82, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family in Ahwatukee, AZ on February 13, 2018, after a battle with cancer. He is survived by Carol Sachwitz, his beloved wife of 61 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Paul was born June 27, 1935 in St. Paul, MN and graduated from Cretin Military Catholic High School in 1953. He married his wife Carol Ann Brown on September 15, 1956. While in Minnesota, Paul worked for 18 years in the trucking business. In 1970, he relocated to Tucson, AZ where he began a 25 year career in the mining tire retreading business. In 1975, he and his family relocated to San Leandro, CA, where he continued in the retread business and in his free time, enjoyed a couples bowling league and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He and Carol enjoyed many cruises together. They retired in Phoenix, AZ in 1995 where he became active at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church. He also enjoyed gardening and playing bingo. Paul is reunited in heaven with sisters Marlene (Bob) Seiler and Jane Squillace, and brother-in-law Ronald Brown. He is also survived by sister Rita Hermes of St. Paul, MN, brother Louis Sachwitz of Los Gatos, CA, sister-in-law Kathy (Chuck) Settle of Houston, TX, children Kim (Mike) DeHerrera of Castro Valley, CA, Scott (Anna) Sachwitz of Chandler, AZ, Tracy (Mike) Clemensen of Castro Valley, CA, grandchildren Karina Gillette, Marissa Volk, Dane and Erik Clemensen of Castro Valley, CA, great-grandson Oliver Gillette and many other dear cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church 3550 E. Knox Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85044. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in memory of Paul, to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Thanks to Reflections Hospice, and especially Courtney, for their wonderful care.
