Mrs. Rose F. Richard
Rose F. (Mello) Lenling-Richard, age 95, passed away October 23, 2017 at Life Care Center Raynham. She was the wife of the late Russell H. Lenling and Clarence Richard. She was the mother of the late Russell H. Lenling, Jr. and grandmother to the late Troy Lenling. Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late John P. Mello and Mary (Sylvia) Mello of New Bedford. Rose married her first husband Russell H. Lenling and raised four boys when her husband died at age 49 leaving her a young widow. She went to work at Coyne Laundry in New Bedford until her retirement. Her brother Jack introduced her to her second love Clarence Richard and they were married for many years and enjoyed retirement together. She loved being surrounded by her family and babysitting her great grandchildren, always spoiling them with love, their favorite meal and goodies. She is survived by her brother John "Jack" Mello and his wife Lucille of Fairhaven, daughter in law Jean Lenling of Acushnet, three sons Lawrence Lenling and his wife Judy of New Bedford, Michael Lenling and his wife Saundra of Monroe, MI, Karlton Lenling of Salt Lick, KY, a step-son James Richard and his wife Barbara of Acushnet. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Robin Maguire and her husband Paul, Scott Lenling, Wendy Jo Lenling of Acushnet, Todd Lenling of New Bedford, Timothy Lenling and his wife Lori of Fairhaven, Tracy Lenling of New Bedford, Tyler Lenling and his wife Kara of Pinckney, MI, Jarrad Lenling of New Bedford, Holly Richard and her fiancée William Thorpe and Justin Richard of Raynham and Jamie Richard of Williamsburg, VA. Rose is also survived by 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Life Care Center of Raynham for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers it was Rose's wish that a donation can be made to Special Olympics of MA (specialoympicsma.org) and you can wear her favorite color blue at her Celebration of Life. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 3, 2017 from 9-9:30am at the ROCK Funeral Home 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford, immediately followed by visitation from 9:30 – 11:00am.
