Helen Jane McLaughlin
Helen Jane McLaughlin Helen Jane McLaughlin passed away in Seattle on June 24, 2017. Helen was born on February 1, 1921 in Newark, New Jersey. After graduating from high school in Detroit, Michigan, Helen moved to Hollywood, California where she met her husband, John Edward McLaughlin (Mac). They made their home in many locales including Oklahoma, Japan, Virginia, Maryland, and Oregon, complements of the U.S. Army. Retirement from the Army brought them to Southern California for a number of years. Later they relocated to Whidbey Island and thoroughly enjoyed boating and the island life. Following Mac's death, Helen moved to Mercer Island and enjoyed life at the retirement community, Aljoya. In 2015, Helen's health seriously declined, and she spent the last two years at Aegis on Queen Anne. Helen is survived by her five children, Terry (Kathleen) of Seattle, Kathy (Jack) of Spokane, Maureen of Seattle, Danny of Galt, CA, and Stephen (Kathy) of Cottage Grove, MN, her thirteen grandchildren, and her fourteen great-grandchildren. Helen's Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Chapel on the Seattle University campus at 2:00 p.m. on July 15, 2017. Reception will immediately follow. Helen's family would like to thank Dr. Kendra Gil, and the wonderful staff and caregivers at Aljoya and Aegis for their heartfelt attention to Helen, aka Mom, Grams, Nana, and G.G. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
