In memory of
Thomas Michael Frayne, son of the late Cecelia (née Woods) and Thomas Frayne, was born August 3, 1950, in NY, NY. He passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 14, 2017. After graduating from SUNY Binghamton with a BS in Mathematics and MS in Economics, Tom moved to Chicago. He attended Northwestern University and earned a Masters in Teaching. He worked more than 20 years in Chicago Public Schools, teaching Math at Roosevelt High School, Wendell Phillips Academy, and Kenwood Academy. He also worked in the District office and served as an Assistant Principal at Kenwood Academy. In the midst of his teaching career, Tom entered the seminary and was ordained a Catholic priest. He was pastor at St. James Church on Wabash until 2002. Tom received immense satisfaction helping both adults and children through his vocation as an educator and his ministry as Pastor of St. James. Tom is lovingly survived by his sister, Mary Alice Ruddick and her husband, Arthur Ruddick; brother, Michael Frayne and his wife, Patricia; brother, John Frayne and his wife, Peggy. He was a loving uncle to Christopher, Kelly, and Arthur Ruddick; Patrick and Colleen Frayne; Neil Vetrano and Christina Frayne, Meghan and Thomas Frayne. He was a great uncle to Julian, Tyler, and Ryan Ruddick; Cecelia Pyfer; Brendan and Connor Frayne. Tom lived in Chicago more than 40 years. He was a life long friend to Michael and Barbara Davis and their children, Stephanie (Brad Dunlap), Matthew Davis (Laurel Rapp) Nicholas, and Theresa(John O'Brien). He married Stephanie and Brad, and Matthew and Laurel. Tom also shared a long friendship with Patrick Canavan and Dan McNeil and their children, Jaden and Taniya. Visitation Thursday, April 20, and Friday, April 21, from 3 to 8pm at the John E. Maloney Co. Funeral Home, 1359 W. Devon Avenue,Chicago. The family and friends will meet for funeral Mass Saturday, April at 12:30pm at St. Gertrude Chuch, 1420 W. Granville Ave (at Glenwood) Private family interment following at St. Boniface Cemetery.
