In memory of
John Rosselli
John Rosselli John Rosselli, Ph.D., FNP-BC, CNE, our beloved son, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, life partner and friend, age 46, sadly left us on April 12, 2017. John was born in Clearfield and moved to Bellefonte during his middle school years. He most recently resided in Chicago, Ill. with the love of his life, Scott Routson. From very early on in life, John exhibited an effervescent personality and a fervent passion to help others. He shaped his prolific academic career in pursuit of this passion by obtaining a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Pennsylvania State University, a B.S. and M.S. in Nursing from Georgetown University, and a Ph.D. in Nursing and Nursing Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM). John always strove to be the best he could be for others by tirelessly continuing his education. He became fluent in Arabic by attending the Defense Language Institute, obtained numerous professional certifications, including being a Certified Nursing Educator and Family Nurse Practitioner, and achieved the Chancellor's Graduate Student Award while obtaining his PhD at UWM. In each of his professional positions, John fully dedicated himself to the advancement and welfare of others, particularly serving as a Family Nurse Practitioner at medical practices in Springfield, Va., Washington, DC, and Bethany Beach, Del.; as Program Director and Instructor at Georgetown University's Nursing Education program; and most recently as Specialty Coordinator of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. Sharing his wealth of knowledge and expertise extended well beyond his vocation. John also was a published co-author of Evaluation Beyond Exams in Nursing Education: Designing Assignments and Evaluating with Rubrics. Outside of work, John loved being an active resident and participant in each community in which he resided, such as playing rugby with the DC Renegades, volunteering at the Whitman-Walker Health in Washington, DC and serving on professional organization committees. John's generous spirit did not end there. He was an endeared relative and friend providing unsurpassed and boundless amounts of love and caring to all. His bright smile, contagious laugh, sense of humor and beautiful spirit will live on in us all. John is survived by his life partner, Scott Routson; their two dogs and cat: Nathan, Tucker and Reese; his mother and dad: Cindy (Rosselli) and Mark Ellenberger; his grandmother, Peggy Rosselli; his aunt, Susan Kavelak and her husband Fred; his uncle, Anthony (Tony) Rosselli; and many loving cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Anthony Rosselli; and aunt, Stephanie (Rosselli) Shedlock. John's family and life partner invite you to share your memories at a celebration of John's life on April 29, 2017, with visitation from 2-4 p.m. at Celebration Hall, located at 2280 Commercial Boulevard, State College, PA 16801.
