Peter "Captain" Janoski
HANOVER TWP. — Peter "Captain" Janoski, of Hanover Township, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at his home. Born May 17, 1936, in Plains Township, he was a son of the late Peter and Josephine (Rovinski) Janoski. Peter was a 1954 graduate of Plains High School and graduated from Wilkes University with a bachelor's degree in business. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He was employed at Danoff Sporting Goods, Hanover Township, and was a member of Exhaltation of the Holy Cross Church, Buttonwood. Captain was an avid fisherman and hunter, and will be sadly missed by his confidant, Bob Stavish. He was preceded in death by his son, Gerald, and brother, Sylvester. Surviving is his wife of 54 years, the former Barbara Yatsko; daughters, Anita Janoski, at home, and Petrice Sloan and her husband, Jim, of Kimberton; grandchildren, Garret and Devyn; and cousin, Stanley Schydlowski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Exhaltation of the Holy Cross Church, Main Road, Hanover Township. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Nanticoke. Friends may call 9 a.m. until time of services Saturday morning. Arrangements are entrusted to the Charles V. Sherbin Funeral Home, Hanover Township.
