Harry Ekizian EKIZIAN, Harry, resident of Westwood, NJ passed away peacefully on April 18, 2017 at age 86 with his family by his side. Born and raised in the Bronx, NY to Dicranouhi and Garabed Ekizian, Harry was the eldest of four children. After graduating from City College of New York, Harry entered the United States Navy in 1951, where he served our nation as a Lieutenant Junior Grade on the USS Marias. Following his naval service, Harry entered into the United States Merchant Marines, where he led shipping routes to ports throughout the Mediterranean Sea. After several years in the retail carpeting industry, Harry followed his father's path and started his own Oriental carpet business in midtown Manhattan. In time he became a highly regarded expert in all facets of the Oriental rug trade, and remained in the business until his retirement in 2012. An active member of the Armenian community, Harry served as Parish Council Chairman at Holy Cross Armenian Church in Manhattan. He was a beloved brother in the Knights of Vartan and counted many of its members as his close friends. Harry led a life based on faith, love for family, lasting friendships and integrity in all he accomplished. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him. Survived by his beloved wife, devoted companion and guardian angel of 57 years, Suzanne (nee Minnetian). Devoted father to Gregory and his wife Alysia, and Andrea and her husband, Dr. Gary Ishkanian. Cherished by sister Marion Rejebian and husband George. Loving brother in law to Christine Boyajian and husband Dr. Nishan. Loving grandfather to Melanie and Holly Ekizian and Ariana, Nicholas and Matthew Ishkanian. Cherished uncle to Gary Rejebian, Dr. Vivian George, Peter Ohanyan, and Etienne and Christopher Boyajian. Predeceased by sister Regina Ohanyan and brother, Thomas. Family will receive friends on Friday April 21, 2017 from 5-8 PM with a 7:00 PM service at St. Leon Armenian Church, 12-61 Saddle River Road in Fair Lawn, NJ. Funeral Services will be on Saturday April 22, 2017 at the church at 1 pm. Interment following to George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Children of Armenia Fund, 149 Fifth Avenue Suite 500 New York, NY 10010 or St. Leon Armenian Church 12-61 Saddle River Road Fairlawn, NJ 07410.
