Arthur L. Jacobsen, 87 Devoted to his family, born and raised in Westerleigh Arthur L. Jacobsen, 87, of Manasquan, N.J., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 12, 2017. Born and raised in Westerleigh, Staten Island, he was a graduate of Port Richmond High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953. He was a member of the NYC District Council of Carpenters for over 50 years and worked on projects in and around New York Harbor. Besides being devoted to his family, Arthur was an avid fisherman and gardener. His other pastimes included cooking, dancing, bocce ball, and card games, but his favorite was watching the NY Yankees play baseball. Arthur is survived by his loving wife, Joan Ann (Mahoney) Jacobsen, also born and raised in Westerleigh, Staten Island; his children, Daniel and (Donna) Jacobsen, Ruth and (Richard) Bachmann, Arthur Jacobsen Jr., and Eileen and (Chris) LaMendola; grandchildren, Lauren and (Matthew) DiCerbo, Candice and (Ryan) Garrett, Stephen DeVries, Rebecca and (Christopher) Mazzolini, Daniel Jacobsen Jr., Michael LaMendola, Nicholas Bachmann, Matthew LaMendola and great-grandchildren, Abel Garrett, Levi Garrett, and Bellamy DeCerbo. Arthur was predeceased by his parents, John Marius and Gunvor Elise Lorentzen Jacobsen, his sister, Ethel Olsen, brother, George, and his nephew, Thomas Olsen. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 9 a.m. at St. Martha's R.C. Church, 3600 Herbertsville Road, Point Pleasant, N.J.
