In memory of
Joseph V. Bender, 89, of Lower Macungie Twp., formerly of Chester Springs, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017. He was the husband of the late Cynthia M. Bender. Born in Mt. Carmel, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph W. and Martha (Kwiterovich) Bender. Joe was an Industrial Sales Engineer at General Electric and was a member of the Elfun Society. He designed the illumination on the PPL building. Joe was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School in 1945, and played for the Red Tornados football team. He received his Bachelors Degree from Villanova University and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. Joe was a member of St. Ann's Church, Emmaus. He enjoyed the outdoors, traveling and attending his grandchildren's activities in his later years. Survivors: Daughters, Judith Curd (Ray) of VA, Karen Bender (Ron Ditzler) of NC, Nancy Bitto (George) of PA; Brother, John Bender (Sylvia) of PA; Grandchildren, Gregory, Daniel and Steven Bitto, Bethany Dailey, Sharon Curd and Madilyn Stockdale; 4 Great-Granddaughters. Services: Mass of Christian Burial 10AM Monday, April 24th, 2017 at St. Ann's Church, 415 S. 6th Street, Emmaus, PA. A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 23rd 4 to 6 PM and on Monday, April 24th from 8:15 to 9:15 AM at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm Street, Emmaus.
