EASLEY — Mrs. Ressie Rebecca Gillespie Swayngham, 88, wife of the late William Paul Swayngham Sr., passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 at her home. Born in Anderson County, a daughter of the late William Thomas and Dovey Lee Chastain Gillespie, Mrs. Swayngham was a homemaker and a charter member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Joyce Durham (Larry) and Shirlee Bagwell (Jim), all of Easley; a son, William Paul Swayngham Jr. (Vickie) of Easley; five grandchildren, Paula Lollis, Kim Stocks, William Paul Swayngham III, Jennifer Wilson and Walker Durham; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a dear friend, Madison Jameson. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Swayngham was predeceased by two brothers, Lonnie and Harold Gillespie; and a sister, Mary Ruth Wyatt. Private graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family is at the home. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff members of Blue Ridge Hospice for the love and care they have provided for Mrs. Swayngham.
