Rose E. Schillaci
Schillaci, Rose E. ALBANY Rose E. Schillaci, 99, entered eternal life on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017. Miss Schillaci was born in Albany on June 14, 1917, daughter of the late Mariano (Frank) and Sarah Gatto Schillaci. She was employed by the Federal Government for 36 years. After her retirement, she was dedicated to her work as a volunteer caregiver for 30 years. Miss Schillaci was a member of St. Francis de Sales Senior Citizens, AARP Chapter 78 and a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany. She enjoyed traveling and her many daytrips during summertime. She was the sister of late beloved brother, Anthony J. Schillaci and his late wife, Antoinette, whom she cherished; she was predeceased by her sisters, Anna A. Betar and Mary F. Schillaci; aunt of Michael, Vincent and his wife, Lindy of Texas, Theresa and her late fiance, Robert Newell, and Thomas of Colorado, all of whom never forgot her; grandaunt of Benjamin Schillaci (Qyauna) of Texas, and Heather Plowman; great-grandaunt of Jarrod; niece of Loretta Gatto, her guardian angel; sister-in-law of Louise Smolinski and her daughter, Kathy who were always there when she needed them; survived by her very dear friend, Maryann Riccardo-Murphy; Rose is also survived by her cousins. Her life was complete and blessed by her beloved family. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Rose's family on Thursday, April 20, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany. Funeral services on Friday, April 21, at 8:15 a.m. in McVeigh Funeral Home, thence to Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany at 9 a.m. where her funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, immediately after the funeral Mass.
