Bryan Blair March 27, 1929 - April 17, 2017 Macon, GA- LCDR Bryan Edward Blair, US Navy Ret., died Monday, April 17, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Hart's at the Cupola, with Dr. Baxter Hurley officiating. The family will greet friends Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Hart's at the Cupola. Donations may be made to . Mr. Blair, son of the late Claude and Essie Blair, was born on March 27, 1929 in Reynolds, Georgia. He graduated high school in Butler, Georgia in 1946. He then attended Mercer Pre-law School, leaving in 1947 to join the United States Navy. First assigned to the supply and logistics field, he earned Combat Aircrew wings in 1950 and was trained in anti-submarine warfare. Mr. Blair earned eight rapid promotions to Senior Chief Petty Officer and was commissioned an officer in 1960 by President Eisenhower. During his twenty-eight years of service, he flew missions off seven aircraft carriers and spent one year in Vietnam. In 1956, his aircraft crashed at sea and he was credited with saving the life of a fellow crewman. His most notable assignment was a two-year tour with the American Consulate in Hong Kong. After twenty-eight years of active duty, Mr. Blair retired as a Lieutenant Commander. Once he retired from the military he proudly took over the family business, Blair Furniture, and opened five furniture stores. In 1985, Mr. Blair was selected as "Small Business Owner of the Year" by the Macon Chamber of Commerce. He was selected as a delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business. He was a sixty-year member of the Dade County Masonic Lodge. He was a real estate broker and investor. Mr. Blair was very proud of his two children and he was always ready to talk about the stock market with anyone. He was also a supporter of the downtown area of Macon. Mr. Blair is predeceased by his daughter, Janice Peacock. Mr. Blair is survived by his wife of 39 years, Diana Hasty Blair; son, Ronald Blair; son-in-law, Louis Peacock; granddaughter, Kerri Bowie (Clay); grandson, James Blair; great-grandchildren, Jordan Bowie, Clay Bowie II, and Alexandria Blair; sister, Neva Moreno; brother, Vaughn Blair (Connie); and several nieces and nephews.
