In memory of
Wilmer Taylor
Wilmer Harrison Taylor Washington, UT A gentle giant of a man, patriarch to a large posterity, slipped away peacefully the eve of a beautiful Easter morning, April 15, 2017. Wilmer Harrison Taylor was born January 11, 1919, in Plain City, Utah. He was the seventh son of Ether Green Taylor and Gertrude Vause. From his early childhood, Wilmer has been an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving faithfully in many positions of responsibility and leadership in his adult life. As a young man, his country called, and leaving his wife and two young children, he served on the destroyer DDS Schroeder 501 in the South Pacific during WWll. He received 8 battle stars and the coveted Bronze Star for his bravery and service. He was a life-long Patriot of the United States. In his career, he was a professional fire fighter with Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah, for many years. Wilmer's first wife, Bernice Kendell, to whom he was married for 52 years, preceded him in death in 1990. His second wife, Almalee Taylor, to whom he was married for 25 years, survives his death along with his four children: Frances Jean Turner of Lake Las Vegas, Nevada, Diann Jones, Overton, Nevada, Terri Ann Reidhead, Tucson, Arizona, and Kevin Taylor, Logan, Utah, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Wilmer was privileged to serve three missions for the LDS Church: An extraction mission with Bernice in St. George, one at Temple Square in Salt Lake City with Almalee, and a third as a Stake missionary in the Washington, Utah Stake. Wilmer was truly an exemplary, honorable man who was always positive with a cheerful spirit, one who was known as a peacemaker, who loved his family and many friends, all of whom will miss his association, but will remember him with joy. He will be laid to rest during a graveside service in Plain City, Utah following viewing in Ogden.
