Charles (Cary) Hanners LANCASTER: Charles (Cary) Hanners, 63, left this world the evening of April 4, 2017, at the Fairfield Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was born September 8, 1953 in Columbus, Oh to the late Ruth Ellen Hanners and Roger William Hanners. He is survived by a brother, Dr. Chris (Kathleen) of Chillicothe, OH and nephews Noah C Hanners (Dr. Emily) of Skaneateles, NY; Isaac L Hanners (Tessa) of Canal Winchester; and niece, Logan M Aal (Jonathan) of Lafayette, CO. He is also survived by an uncle Wilson (Betty) Black (Hilliard) and cousins, Steve (Jan) Hanners; Mark (Barbara) Hanners; Cindy (Barry )Cummins of Hilliard; Greg (Vicki) Dorsey of Boca Raton, FL Roger Lee Black (Columbus) Debbie Chester (Grove City) and Teri (Kenny) Poole (Hilliard) and additional nieces and nephews. He attended Canal Winchester high school and Capital University. He worked for Orient State Institution until it closed in 2002 and was employed in various other capacities throughout his working life. Cary had a warm, kind, giving heart and would do anything for a friend. He loved animals, and music and especially enjoyed playing his fiddle. The family would like to thank special friend Margaret Pettorine who was most loyal and loving throughout his life. Also, thanks you to the management and friends at Pershing House, Dwayne R Spence Funeral Home, and the case management, nursing and physician staff of Fairfield Memorial Hospital. To friends, family of Cary's, and others interested in honoring his memory the family asks that you provide encouragement and support to those struggling with the disease of addiction.
