Vonna Corinne Hoffman
Vonna Corinne Hoffman, 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, April 14, 2017. She was born in Columbia City, June 23, 1933 to the late Carl Loxley and Marie (Lambert) Loxley. She graduated from Columbia City High School and attended MacMurray College. Prior to her marriage to Richard Hoffman Oct. 11, 1953, she worked at Lincoln Life Insurance Company in Fort Wayne. After she was married, Vonna was an active participate and multiple award winner for years in the Garden Club of Indiana. She was a long time member of the Philomathean Society. She enjoyed growing annuals and perennials, fruits and vegetables and exhibited her talents in flower arranging through her participation in the Alter Guild and Fellowship Circle. She also served as Sunday school teacher and choir member at St. John Lutheran Church. Vonna was actively involved with the family farm duties including driving the tractor. She also served as secretary of the corporation and worked as a teacher's aide for six years in the math resource center at Columbia City High School. In her spare time, Vonna was an avid Chicago Cub's fan and she enjoyed watching sports. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Richard Dean Hoffman, of Columbia City; sons, Jeffery Robin Hoffman, of Columbia City, and Kent (Cheryl) Hoffman, of Columbia City; daughter, Jill Marie Hoffman, of Columbia City; sister, Arlene Loxley Watson, of Florida; four grandchildren, Angela Hoffman Taulbee, Adam Hoffman, Lindsey Hoffman and Morgen Hoffman; and three great-grandchildren, Wesley, Dylan and Levi Hierholzer. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Eric Dylan Hoffman. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 18 at 5 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 2465 W. Keiser Rd., Columbia City. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 3 to 5 p.m. Burial will follow the funeral service at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. John Lutheran Church Alter Guild. Arrangements entrusted to Northern Indiana Funeral Care of Fort Wayne.
