J. Paul Barry
J. Paul Barry, 87, of Holyoke, Massachusetts, and formerly of Enfield, entered into eternal rest Friday, April 14, 2017, at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield. He was the beloved husband of the late H. Patricia (Parker) Barry who passed away in 2015. Paul was born Oct. 11, 1929, to the late Jeremiah F. and Helen I. (Casey) Barry. He grew up in Chicopee, Massachusetts, resided in Enfield for 50 years and, for the past year, lived in Holyoke. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School and attended American International College, Springfield. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard. Prior to retiring, Paul was employed with Springfield Newspapers for 20 years and with Main St. Management Co. Paul was a longtime active member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1525. He was an avid skier and golfer, and he was a youth hockey referee. He and his wife spent many years during their retirement traveling throughout the United States, exploring historic sites, visiting family and friends, and making new friends along the way. Paul was famous for his backyard barbecues and for organizing block parties with his Haynes Street neighbors. He was best known for his sense of humor, which he used as a means of letting people know they were cared for and special. Paul is survived by his children, Cathy Vacchelli and husband, the Hon. Robert Vacchelli, of Connecticut, Lynda Kinnane and husband, Dr. Thomas Kaluzynski, of North Carolina, Patricia Robinson of Massachusetts, and Christopher Kinnane and wife, Constance Wannamaker, of Texas; his six grandchildren, Brandon Vacchelli, Andrew and Clare Kaluzynski, Carly and Lauren Robinson, and Benjamin Kinnane. He is also survived by his siblings, Margaret Scagliarini, James Barry, Marion Caproni and husband, Joseph, all of Massachusetts; brother-in-law, Kenneth Parker and wife, Phyllis; and sister-in-law, Linda Parker, all of Rhode Island; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Frances Barry. Relatives and friends may gather with his family Wednesday, April 19, from 4 to 6 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service with the Rev. Barry Andrusik, pastor, officiating at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
