Patricia Ann Wheeler 1931 - 2017 CALIFORNIA - Patricia Ann Wheeler passed away from Alzheimer's Disease on March 29, 2017. Born Nov. 25, 1931, in Mt. Sterling, Ill., to Maurice and Velma Wright Peter, Patricia moved to Springfield, Ill., as a child, graduating from Lawrence Elementary School and Lanphier High School. As a highly-accomplished pianist, organist and vocalist, she performed throughout her lifetime in her community and at Cathedral Church of St. Paul where she was a member and worked as the church secretary. She subsequently worked in the attorney general's office, while continuing to assist her husband in managing his heating and air-conditioning business. After a 15-year period of developing and living on a ranch in Petersburg, she returned to Springfield to become a successful realtor, a role she enjoyed and pursued well into her 70s. As a lifelong learner, she read extensively, completed two years of community college in her 50s, and volunteered as a teacher of English Learners for 10 years. Patricia was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Theresa; parents; sister, Marilyn Luttrell; husband, Kenneth; and son-in-law, Deldon Grant. She is survived by her children: Pamela Mari and Deborah (Mari) Bonuccelli of Sacramento, Richard Mari of Springfield, and Patricia (Wheeler) Grant of Petersburg; brother-in-law, Edward Luttrell of Springfield; a niece; two nephews; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Friends may visit at 11 a.m. on April 21, 2017, at Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Springfield. A Funeral Mass will begin at noon, followed by a brief graveside ceremony at Oak Ridge Cemetery. A social gathering thereafter.
