In memory of
Deborah Hicks Ferse
Deborah Hicks Ferse Deborah [Hicks] Ferse, age 69, passed away peacefully at her Mercer Island home, loving family at her side, on March 28, 2017. Deb's passion for life was reflected in all that she did. Student, teacher, nurse, wife, mother, grandmother, friend, gardener, chef, adventurer, hiker and skier, volunteer, philanthropist- these were all a big part of who she was. A diagnosis of brain cancer, in 2008, did not change Deb's outlook. She continued to pursue her passions, while establishing herself as a leader in support of others with glioblastoma. Her many devoted friends were with her until the end because she was always there for them. The love from her family and friends helped sustain her through the many challenges that she celebrated and endured so gracefully. Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Dorothy Hicks of Mercer Island, and her brother, Donald Molitor, Seattle. She is survived by her husband, Richard; daughter Kimberly, Seattle; and son Kurt, daughter-in law Rachel, and grandson, Alden living in Bellevue. A memorial service to celebrate Deb's life will be held on Sunday, May 7th, 4:00 PM, at The East Shore Unitarian Church, 12700 SE 32nd St., Bellevue, WA 98005
