Jerry Michael Daviee
Jerry Michael Daviee Mar. 29, 1947 - Apr. 6, 2017 Resident of Crockett Jerry Michael Daviee peacefully passed away on April 6, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Mamie Jean Walters, his mother, Leoma Tate, his sister, Sara Miller, and her children, Megaan Leane Henry and Shaun Paul Miller, and his brother, David Daviee and his children, Alex Daviee and Katie Yarbrough. Jerry was born in Oklahoma City on March 29, 1947. Following high school in Oklahoma City Jerry attended the San Francisco Art institute in San Francisco from 1965 to 1966. He returned to Oklahoma City to complete a BA in art history. During the Vietnam. War era, he enlisted in the Unites States Navy and served four years as a radioman. Upon discharge Jerry attended the University of Texas where he completed an MA in Art History with a focus on contemporary Latin American Art. In 1977 Jerry became Curator of Art at the Amarillo Art Center in Amarillo Texas. In 1980 Jerry and Mamie moved to San Francisco where he assumed the position of Curator of Art for the American Museum Association. Jerry continued to be drawn to making his own art and returned to the San Francisco Art Institute. He received an M.F.A. in 1989. From 1990 to 2007, Jerry Served as the Grants Officer for the Oakland Museum of California. He was very much appreciated for his excellent professional skills and ability to acquire grants for the museum which funded important programs and exhibitions. Upon retirement in 2007, Jerry devoted himself fulltime to his studio and his own art. Jerry was appreciated by all who knew him for his sweet and kind demeanor, his sense of humor and intelligence.
