In memory of
Janine Nienhaus
NIENHAUS (Floyd), Janine Marie Age 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 13, 2017. She was born September 4, 1942, in Dayton, Ohio, to Eugene and Catherine (Bierman) Floyd. She attended Holy Family Catholic grade school and Julienne High School, class of 1960. She married Aloys Nienhaus in 1962, and, together, they had two children and took in nearly 50 foster children during their 29-year marriage. She studied music and nursing at Wright State University and was a church organist and music director for over 11 years at various churches, including Holy Family, Holy Trinity and St. Anthony in Dayton. In addition to raising a family, fostering children and playing the church organ, Janine had a number of other career highlights: guest editorial columnist for the Dayton Daily News; a dispatcher and special services officer for the City of Oakwood, a psychiatric nurse (receiving her RN from Sinclair in 1986); and a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in Dayton, helping children who have experienced abuse and neglect find safe, loving homes. She loved musicals, pets, reading, traveling, Tom Selleck, exploring her Macedonian heritage, and her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by son Paul (Lisha) Nienhaus; daughter Annetta (Brandon) Major; sister Rochelle Fields; niece Ali (Aaron) Bledsoe and numerous other nieces and nephews; grandchildren: Connor, Grant, Aubrey and Owen; special foster-daughter Maureen Finigan; her beautiful friend Marcie Yannekis, as well as other wonderful friends and relatives. She is finally reunited with her mother, Cay, with whom she had the strongest bond. She is probably not happy with the way this obituary is written, since, as a writer, she would say she could do a better job, but she would appreciate the effort. We thank the nurses and staff of Pristine Senior Living in Centerville and Hospice of Miami Valley for allowing her to "help them" with their nursing duties and for being patient and kind to the end. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 19, 2017, from 6 - 8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, Ohio 45439. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 830 Bowen Street, Dayton. Interment at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Dayton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Miami Valley. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.NewcomerDayton.com
