In memory of
Suzanne Elizabeth MOODY
MOODY, Suzanne Elizabeth (Hawkins) (Age 87) Sue Moody passed away in Spokane, WA, on April 11, 2017. She was born August 2, 1929 to Harrison and Suzanne Hawkins of Okanogan, WA. Her father was a civil engineer and his job kept the family moving frequently within the state of Washington during her childhood. Sue graduated from Okanogan High School in 1947, then went on to graduate from the Eastern Washington College of Education, where she received a Bachelor of Education. While teaching English in the Central Valley School District, she met her husband of 62 years, William (Bill) Moody. They were married July 27, 1953 and made their home in the Spokane Valley. Sue was a second generation Washingtonian and was proud to have lived her entire life in Washington State. Her most important job was that of wife and mother. She kept busy raising her two daughters, but was always willing to volunteer at school, and taught many a Sunday school class. After moving to the Spokane Valley, she became a member and eventually an elder of Opportunity Presbyterian Church. Sue also belonged to Chapter AI of P.E.O. Her favorite hobby was oil painting and she painted many beautiful paintings over the years. Her family is happy to have many of her paintings to keep in her memory. Sue also enjoyed playing bridge and golfing with her friends. Sue and Bill were very fortunate to travel in the U.S. and abroad during their retirement. Sue is preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Tom) Arkins of Bellevue, WA; Cheryl Moody of Nordman, Idaho; and granddaughter Jessica Moody of Portland, Oregon. She is also survived by her brother James Hawkins, his wife Mary Alice, and their two children and grand- children. A celebration of her life will be held at Opportunity Presbyterian Church in the Spokane Valley on Friday April 21, 2017 at 2PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Opportunity Presbyterian Church or Hospice of Spokane.
