In memory of
Lydia Jacob Bayne
Lydia Jacob Bayne, age 84, went home to God peacefully in her sleep, on Saturday, April 8th, at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center in Lenox, MA. Lydia was born in New York City, August 13, 1932, with a twin sister Polly, and brother Walter Jr. to parents Walter P. Jacob and Lydia Kenworthy. She attended Boston Bouve' College (now part of Tuft's University), graduating with a degree in Physical Therapy in 1954. She worked as a Physical Therapist, treating polio patients prior to marrying John Phillip Bayne April 14, 1956 in Baltimore, MD. Lydia was actively involved raising her children, teaching tennis, and supporting her husband's Naval career for 27 years, moving up and down the East Coast. After Phil's retirement from the Navy, the family settled in La Grange, NY where she developed a keen interest in soccer and eventually took up golf as an avid player. Lydia enjoyed traveling the world. With her dog on her lap, a hot cup of tea and any sweet treat involving lemon, she also enjoyed watching sports. Lydia is survived by her ex-husband Phil, and her children, Jenny Bayne, Cyndy Alkire, Connie Fischer, John Bayne and Stephen Bayne. She was a loving, attentive grandmother to her 11 grandchildren Katy, Chris, Craig, Sean, Ryan, Connor, Kevin, Liam, Reghan, Owen, Darby and a caring Aunt to Walter P. Jacob, III. She also was blessed with a great grandchild, Annabelle. SERVICES: A Celebration of Life with friends, stories and refreshments will be held at The Elks Club at 29 Overocker Road in Poughkeepsie, NY on Saturday, April 22, 12-2 pm. Special thanks to the staff at Kimball Farms for their kindness in caring for Lydia in her later years. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Lydia's memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Every time we would visit Mom, she would stand at the sliding glass door and watch us drive away with tears of love in her eyes. Now we stand and remember the special times we shared with tears of love in our eyes. With hearts full of love, you will be missed Mom. "Well, that's that." LBJ
