Richard Paul "Dick" Winter
Richard Paul "Dick" Winter, 85, died in Klamath Falls, Ore., April 13, 2017. A service of tribute and love will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 22, at Eternal Hills Chapel. Inurnment will follow at Eternal Hills with a reception to follow the service at the Klamath Tribute Center. Friends may call for visitation from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at the Klamath Tribute Center, 6420 S. Sixth St. Dick was born in Klamath Falls on March 26, 1932, to Paul and Ruth Fleming Winter. He grew up in Klamath Falls and graduated from Klamath Union High School. After graduation he attended SOC and then Southern Oregon. He married Madge Beeson on Sept. 18, 1952, at the Presbyterian Church in Ashland, Ore. After working in the Jacksonville and Eagle Point area on his uncle's ranch and the birth of their two children, they moved back to Klamath Falls in 1959 where Dick began a career as a service manager in the automotive industry. He worked for Dugan and Mest, Ballsiger, Eccles before finishing his career at Miller Brothers. He retired in the 1990s. Dick was also a well-known fly tier having a business with Polly Rosborough and then his own tying business here in Klamath County. He received fly tier of the year in 2008. Dick was very active in the Klamath Country Fly Casters being a founding member and serving as secretary/treasurer for several years. He also was a life member of the Masonic Lodge Klamath Lodge No. 77 - 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. Most of all Dick enjoyed fishing and camping on the Upper Williamson where he could be found with his good friend, Jim Garvey, camping in mid-July. He also enjoyed his garden and all the pets, including the deer that came to enjoy it, too. Dick is survived by his wife of 64-plus years, Madge Winter; son, Michael; daughter, Deborah; and grandchildren, Lucas and Kaylieth. He was preceded in death by his parents and his good friend, Jim Garvey. Klamath Tribute Center is in charge of the arrangements.
