John Edward Howard Fort Valley, GA- John Edward Howard, 90, died Thursday, April 13, 2017. Services will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Cross Point Baptist Church, 645 Perry Parkway in Perry, with Rev. Jeremy Morton, Rev. Davin Benavides, and Rev. Jason Mangrum officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Family will greet friends from 6:00PM to 7:00PM on Monday, April 17, 2017, at Cross Point Baptist Church.   Mr. Howard was born in Byron to the late Wesley Warren Howard and Mattie Viola O'Neal Howard. While in high school, he was involved in sports, playing basketball and baseball. He made the all star basketball team in the ninth grade. After he graduated from high school, he began to farm and worked at Blue Bird Body Company. He worked in civil service at Robins Air Force Base and retired after more than 32 years of service. After retirement, he operated an Exxon gas station. A devoted member of Cross Point Baptist Church, he served as a deacon and usher.   Survivors include his wife, Virginia Cochran Clark Howard; his children, Diane H. Craddock (Rodney) of Macon, and Michael Howard (Lynn) of Byron; step children, Wayne Clark (Gina) of Byron, and Linda Wilson (Steve) of Bluffton, SC; grandchildren, Melissa Hunnicutt (Chad), Christa Howard, and Ethan Howard; step grandchildren, Michael Clark (Amanda),  Steven Grady Clark (Emily), Will Doles, Morgan Stincer (Stephen), and Haley Kaufman (Kyle); great grandchildren, Tyler Hunnicutt and Taylor Folsom (John) of Fort Bragg, NC; step great grandchildren, Ansley Clark, Drake Clark, Hudson Kaufman, Hatcher Stincer, Hollis Stincer, Grady Clark, and Gavin Clark; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Warnell Leverett Howard, brothers and sisters, J. W. Howard, Ruby Davidson, Francis Howard, Portia Holt, and Mattie Lizzie Howard, an infant sister and two infant brothers.   Donations may be made to Cross Point Baptist Church.
