In memory of
Anya Elizabeth Janoski
June 12, 1984 - April 2, 2017 Anya Elizabeth Janoski died on April 2, of complications from pneumonia. She was 32 years old. Anya had Cornelia de Lange Syndrome, a genetic disorder that resulted in small stature with cognitive, physical, and medical challenges. The occurrence of CdLS is estimated to be 1 in 10,000 live births. Anya is preceded in death by her step-father, Ernest Kimme. She is survived by her mother, Margi Stern; father, Hank Janoski; brother, Stefan (Jessica) Janoski; many step brothers and sisters; aunts; uncles, and cousins. She lived at home and was loved and cared for by her family and caregivers, Andria Lopez-Gomez, Rina Fuller and past caregivers, Amanda Dovichi, Suzanne Hyde and Deb Lowe. Anya had so many friends and teachers whom she touched along the way in her short, but rich life. Anya attended Special Day classes with Solano County Office of Education in Vacaville Unified School District. Her teachers were Willette McClellan, Adriana Brignone Forshay, Sandy Reynolds, Cindy Kelley, Howard Artig. She attended Pace Program for adults with disabilities. Staff included Peggy, Ria, Joha, Alaura, Melissa, Alyssa, Barbara, Elaine, Summyr, and Pat. All of these amazing people taught Anya, but mostly, she taught them. She was a teacher of patience, resourcefulness, acceptance, unconditional love, and laughter. Their dedication to her and love for her will never be forgotten. All of her respite and IHSS workers became family. Her doctors, Dr. Chun, Dr. Walker and the nurses who cared for her over the years are so appreciated. Anya was an example of "It takes a village" and she had a huge village and support system. Anya is known by many all over Solano County for her love of the Hokey Pokey, matchbox cars, Mickey Mouse, and wearing one piece footed pajamas with rain boots and a hip pack. Her impish nature, contagious laugh and smile brightened so many of those she touched. She loved playing tricks on her caregivers and family, hiding things (like putting her IPad in the dryer!). She loved going to musical plays, riding her 4 wheeler, watching videos (especially the Wizard of Oz), and stickers. She left stickers wherever she went to remind everyone that "Anya was here!" She died with a smile on her indescribably beautiful and peaceful face, surrounded by loved ones who sang "5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed" in a Jamaican accent! Seriously, this girl brought out the best in all of us. She taught us how to rock out and dance through life. "Maybe the Hokey Pokey is What it's all about!" We love you Anya. Thank you for being you. We know you are resting in peace. Her Celebration of Life will be the 4th of July with family and friends. Donations in honor of Anya Janoski may be made to the Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation at www.CdLSusa.org or sent to CdLS Foundation, 302 West Main St., #100, Avon,CT 06001-3681.
