James Phelan Dickerson, MD - James Phelan, 59, passed away suddenly on Wednesday April 12, at his home in Dickerson, MD. Born in Cold Spring NY on October 13, 1957 he was the son of Francis Phelan & Judith Vorndran. James was employed as a Captain at the Normandie Farm Restaurant in Potomac, MD. In addition to his Mother Judith, James is survived by brother Michael Phelan and his wife Margie, of Raleigh NC; sister Cindy Brower and her husband Tim, of Perth, Australia, sister Eileen Risko, and her husband James, of Poughkeepsie, NY; brother Jeffrey Phelan and his wife Erin of Westbrookville, NY ; and a multitude of nieces and nephews who loved him very much. James was pre-deceased by his wife Elizabeth (Betty) King; his father, Francis Phelan; his stepfather John Vorndran; and his brother, Richard Phelan. James graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School in 1976. Soccer was his first love. He was a perennial All-Star goalkeeper for the Ketcham Soccer Team and as part of a national high school soccer club, traveled to Poland to participate in international competition. In addition to being an avid and accomplished chess player, James was an adventurous explorer of National Monuments and Historic Sights around the country, always sending pictures back home to document his travels. James enjoyed gardening and had a flair for the Culinary Arts. He loved preparing delicious and elaborate meals for family and friends at his home. Memorial Services will be held on a date to be announced. Donations in memory of James may be made to the American Heart Association
