In memory of
SITKO, MARIA age 85, of Coventry, RI, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly, April 11, 2017. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Stanley Sitko, and is survived by her loving family; daughter, Carmen Howard, granddaughters Tanya Howard, Deana Salisbury, and Tracy Turczynski, her grandson-in-law Scott Salisbury and her great-grandchildren Riley and Rowan, all of Glocester, RI. She is also survived by her nieces Carol Iovino and Jeannette Mullholland. Maria was born on May 17, 1931 in Diessen am Ammersee, Germany and is survived by her sister, Lisa Pauser, brother Rheinhold Thalhammer, nieces Helga Wolf, Elisabeth Reindl and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents Max and Babette Thalhammer, brother Alfred Thalhammer and sister, Emma Amann. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. She was proud to be an army wife and traveled extensively, creating a comfortable home for her family wherever the tour of duty brought them. After her husband Stan's retirement in 1965, they settled in his home state of Rhode Island. Maria was employed by Engineered Yarns Company in Coventry, was a member of the Knights of Columbus Women's Auxiliary and volunteered for The American Cancer Society and SS John and Paul Church. She was strong, self-reliant, and selfless. She lived her faith and was a communicant of SS John & Paul Church. Her Funeral will be held Tuesday at 8:00 am from the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.117), Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in SS. John & Paul Church, Coventry. Interment will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Monday 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers donations in Maria's name made to SS.
