Sue Miller DALLAS, TX: Suzanne Friedlander (Sue) Miller, a longtime Mansfield civic and political volunteer, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2017 in Dallas. She was born in Cleveland on August 26, 1928 and graduated from Shaker Heights High School and Briarcliff College in Briarcliff Manor, New York. She was the daughter of Jerome and Marian Friedlander and the granddaughter of Sen. and Mrs. Albert Mendelson, all of Cleveland. Sue moved to Mansfield in 1956 after her marriage to Herbert Miller and was active in civic and political activities until she moved to Dallas in 2012, joining her two sons and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, who died in 2001, her parents and brother Jack. Her lifelong political involvement began when her grandfather, former state senator Albert Mendelson, took her to the 1936 Republican National Convention in Cleveland. She long served as a precinct chairman in Mansfield and was a member and officer of the Richland GOP central committee for many years. She served as president of the Richland County Republican Women's Club. Sue was passionate about government and politics and an active campaign organizer, volunteer and host for many local, state and national Republican candidates including four U. S. Presidents. She also led and volunteered for several city and school bond campaigns. Civically, she was active with the Mansfield League of Women Voters, Citizens for Education Committee, American Heart Association, the Evergreen Garden Club and other organizations. She was a member of the Emanuel Jacob Congregation and its Sisterhood. She is survived by her brother Tom (Kathy) of Scottsdale AZ, sons Andy (Sabina) and Fred (Cassie) both of Dallas, step-daughter Jennifer Weeg (Tim) of San Francisco, grandchildren David (Jennifer) of Dallas, Eric (Stacie) of Phoenix, Michael (Sara) of New York and Emily also in New York and step grandchildren, Ashley (Sian) and Anna (Charlie) of San Francisco. She took great pride and enjoyment from her great grandchildren Carson, Payton, Levi, Finley, Wednesday and Delancey.
