In memory of
85 years, of Whitehall, PA, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2017. He was the husband of Jane (Zardus) Purvis and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on January 27th. Joe served in the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1955. Joe attended the University of Illinois where he received an electrical engineering degree in 1960. He was employed by Western Electric and retired in 1987 as a senior engineer. He was an avid golfer and mostly enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events. He was pre-deceased by sister Dolores, brother Gene, and daughter-in-law Carol Purvis. Survivors: In addition to his wife Jane, Joe is survived by his daughter Amy, wife of Samuel Amory of Center Valley, sons, Mark and his companion Robin Ferrara, of Basking Ridge, NJ, Robert and his wife Suzanne, of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jeffrey and his wife Colleen, of Reinholds, PA, Gregory and his companion Dawn Sadowy, of Bethlehem, and David and his wife Dorinda of Atlanta, GA, sister, Linn Bornhuetter, and her husband Doug of Albuquerque, NM, grandchildren, Ryan and his wife Katie, Kyle, Tyler, and Evan, Colby, Caitlin, Caroline and Benjamin Purvis and, Luke, Melann and Clark Amory and great grandson Declan Purvis. Services: A Celebration of his Life will be held at Iron Lakes Country Club, 3625 Shankweiler Road, Allentown, Pennsylvania, 12-4PM on Saturday, April 29th. Family will be receiving guests from 12-2, Prayer Service at 2PM, followed by a luncheon Contributions: in Joseph's name can be made to American Heart Association, Alzheimer's Foundation, Lehigh Valley Health Network Hospice Care.
