John McKinley July 21, 1929 - April 7, 2017 Marina John Francis McKinley was born in New York City to Elizabeth and Joseph McKinley on July 21, 1929. He graduated from Fordham Preparatory School before joining the U.S. Army in 1947. He was assigned as a Military Policeman for 10 years in Japan after the war and married in 1959. John served twice in Korea and completed two tours in Vietnam before retiring as a 1st Sergeant in 1971. A veteran of 24 years, he was stationed in Japan, Germany, and Louisiana. The family moved to Marina, CA in 1972 and enjoyed bowling together. John passed gently away at home on April 7, 2017 due to natural causes. He was a Past Grand Knight, Past Faithful Navigator and member of the Color Corps in the Knights of Columbus. John was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Susie McKinley in 2011. He is survived by two sons, Haruo and Brian McKinley. A Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, April 19 at Mission Mortuary in Monterey from 5-8:00 PM. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM.
