Emilie Gaudet Hinton
Emilie Gaudet Hinton, beloved wife of the late Hobart Henley Hinton, died on April 8, 2017 at the age of 93. Mrs. Hinton was born in New Orleans and has resided in Slidell for the past 21 years. She was a retired Orleans Parish school system teacher and administrator and served as past president of the Louisiana Association for the Supervision and Curriculum Development (LASCD). She was a graduate of H. Sophie Newcomb College and received a Masters of Education degree from Tulane University. She was a former member and Elder of the Gentilly Presbyterian Church for 55 years, member of Peace Presbyterian Church (formerly Claiborne Presbyterian Church), First Presbyterian Church and current member of First United Methodist Church of Slidell. Survivors include two sons, Michael Wayne Hinton, Daniel Lawrence Hinton and one daughter, Sandra Diane Hinton of Pensacola, Florida. She was also the mother of the late Sharon Ann Hinton and Linda Suzanne McGee. She is the grandmother of Amanda Marie Hinton, Melissa Emilie Hinton, Lauren Nicole Hinton Benfatti. Great grandmother of Landon Cordelle Hinton, Brayden Avery Benfatti, Payton Gerard Benfatti and Jayce Nathaniel Benfatti, mother-in-law of Lynn Marie Motes Hinton, sister-in-law of Norma Hinton Grice of Elkhart, Indiana. She is the sister to the late Jeanne Gaudet Garvey of New Orleans, Alice Gaudet Howard of Denton, Texas and Philip Arthur Gaudet, Jr. of Slidell. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a "Celebration of Life" service at 10:00 am on Friday, April 21, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, 433 Erlanger Street, Slidell, LA 70458. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the time of the service. A private burial will be held in the Biloxi National Cemetery.
