Saxtons River, Vermont - Linda Lou (McQuaide) Fletcher, 70, passed away on April 2, 2017 after a prolonged illness, at Hillcrest Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Pittsfield, Mass. Linda was in born Bellows Falls, Vermont, September 30, 1946 to Donald J. McQuaide and Olive R. (Martin) McQuaide, both of whom predeceased her, as well as her sister, Donna. Linda spent her life in Saxtons River and graduated from Bellows Falls Union High School. Linda worked as a dispatcher at the Windham County Sheriff's Department in Newfane, for 28 years, and retired in 2013. Linda was an avid gardener, as for many years her neighbors could attest by the zucchini or other random veggies that she would hang for them on the newspaper box. Linda was also a huge fan of Nascar, baseball, football, and cooking. Linda enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, as well as her yearly trips to Maine. On January 3, 1964, in Grafton, Vermont, Linda married Francis E. Fletcher, who survives her. Linda is also survived by her sister, Debra Albro, of Westminster, and Linda's children: Jessie and Dale Temple, of Putney, Gordon (Spike) Fletcher, of Saxtons River, June and Cole Streeter, of Westminster, Amy-Sue Fletcher, and her fiance, Matthew Mabe, of Saxtons River. Her grandchildren: Kathryn, Elizah and Kyle Temple, of Putney, Carissa Healey of Perry, Georgia and Shane Healey-Fletcher, of Saxtons River, Zachary, Jacob, Madison, Nicholas, Joshua and Alyson Streeter, and Kayla and Kori Coburn. SERVICES: There will be no calling hours and a private celebration will be held at a later date at the families discretion. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to the Saxtons River Volunteer Fire & Rescue, c/o Arthur Smith, P.O.Box 81, Saxtons River, VT 05154.
