Kathy R. Schaap AGE: 64 • Bellefonte Kathy Rywak Schaap of Bellefonte, passed away October 28, 2016. She was born July 27, 1952. Kathy graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and later graduated summa cum laude from Neumann College. She served the State of Delaware for 24 years, most recently as a probation and parole officer. She also served more than 20 years of combined service in the Delaware Air National Guard and Delaware Army National Guard. During that time, she twice answered the call to active duty; first, during the Gulf War and again during Operation Noble Eagle/Enduring Freedom in the days following September 11. In 2002, she received an Honorable Discharge with the rank of Master Sergeant (E7). Her personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal. Kathy is survived by her children, Jennifer Jones of New Orleans, LA and Scott Jones (Masako) of Norcross, GA; granddaughter, Stephanie Jones of Norcross, GA; sisters, Michelle Daemmer of Tucson, AZ and Susan Bielicki (James) of Shelton, CT; mother, Norma Rywak of Shelton, CT; and former spouses, Bob Jones of Wilmington, DE and Donald Schaap of St. Johns, FL, with both of whom she remained upon amicable terms. She is predeceased by her father, Harry Rywak. A memorial service will be 4:00 pm, Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, 503 Duncan Road, Wilmington, DE 19809. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant or the Delaware Human Association ( www.delawarehumane.org ). CREMATION SERVICE OF DELAWARE
